Nancy's Punishment ( Short Story )

Am I being disowned? Thrown out, separated and discarded. Is it punishment for having troubled these lovely people for the last couple of years? Have they finally realized that I have overstayed my welcome? True, I am lazy, well, I can be like that some times. I can also be a little prick about my eating habits, but come on! , that's part of having good taste. I love making a mess around the house, throwing stuff out the window and run around with no pants on. Well, Who doesn't? pants are so itchy! :O Listen, as embarrassing as it may seem, it's normal, okay! , all my friends do the same once in a while. True, I wake up in the middle of the night, make unreasonable demands, some times I scare the cat and chase the lambs outside the house, but that isn’t so bad, is it? An occasional tantrum, here and there is manageable, but wait! did I finally push them over the edge? These people have been good to me and now that I think about it, I kind of, do like them, a lot. But, do they, anymore? Have they had it ? are they going to disown me now? Oh, why did I agree to get out of the house in the first place? I should have hidden under the bed. Now I have been tricked into this prison and I see some of my friends. I am very worried, in fact, everyone looks worried here, except that tall lady over there. These are the thoughts that ran through little Nancy’s head on her first day at school.

Starting History of Computer Games ( short essay )

Games, especially computer games have a long and twisted history. The first computer game was a ping pong simulation created on an analog oscilloscope at MIT. It was a marvel of the time. Though much, much rudimentary by today's 3D graphics standards, this quickly caught the attention of many people and became a crazy at MIT and was played by all. It slowly grew from there to take the form of consoles and arcades. Nintendo and many American companies fought to capture the market which had by now grown quickly. Nintendo's Mario, a mustachioed plumber caught the nation's imagination and quickly became the favorite of the nation. The only other game to have made it so big was Pac man, a yellow dot eating other white dots and occasional ghosts. Yes, games did not have a solid logic and required players to suspend their beliefs and accept a new world with new rules. This was the main lure of a game after all.

Which Bollywood movie do you find most inspiring and why ?

The Bollywood movie that I find really inspiring is 'Lagaan' or translated into English the title means 'Taxation'. Taxation has always been a big tragic highlight of the British Raj and has been a key factor in the plight of impoverished farmers. The movie Lagaan, combines these themes with another surprising element, that if cricket. We all know that anything with cricket will sell in India. India is forever fascinated with the sport and it is played in every street and corner of the country. The BCCI is the richest cricket body in the world and the IPL is one of the most sought after events on television. Hence there should be little doubt that a movie with a script like Lagaan could ever falter at the box office. Yet, it is not these that stand out when we watch the movie, but it is the human element of Bhuvan a spirited villager who is saddened to see his fellow villagers miserable under the tyranny of taxation and famine. If I would have to summarize the script of the movie, it would be that a group of simple villagers challenge the Englishmen in their own game and win against all odds. But Ashutosh Gowarikar weaves a magical tale of romance, struggle, hope and victory against all odds in this spectacular movie. I find it especially inspiring because, it represents a challenge at the start of the movie which seems impossible to overcome and even fathom as the illiterate villager have no clue as to how the game is even played and what are the rules, let alone the training required to succeed. But they forge on. They try and grasp at what little they can. Their struggle is very endearing especially as the Indian audience is already intimately familiar with the sport. We soon see that there is a silver lining to the dark clouds as Elizabeth an English lady is impressed by the villager's will to fight against all odds and volunteers to support them. She teaches them the rules of the game and guides them on how to practice this foreign sport. The villagers also stand united against the English men as an untouchable - Kachra is introduced in the team for his ability to bowl spinners. This also brings to the surface much of the discrimination that was existing in India at that time. This story, obviously fictional also highlights that no matter how big our struggle is, it is tiny in the big scheme of things. But also, that no matter how time we might be, our struggles are still relevant to us and those closest to us. The movie went on to get nominated in the best foreign language film category in the 2002 Oscars. Though it lost to the bosnian movie 'No man's land', it still was a quite proud achievement for Indian all over the globe. I find the movie inspiring not only for the story that it beautifully weaves out but also because of the achievements of the actual movie, which went on from being an under dog to being the most celebrated films of the decade.

Explain importance of Crazyegg and why should we use it ?

Crazyegg is one of the top heat map tracing tools ever. But before we talk about it, let's discuss what is a heat map and why would we need it. Right off the bat, a heat map sounds too flashy, the kind of things you would hear in a mission control room trying to track down the enemy. Well, you would not be too far from the truth. In fact, a heat map is exactly the same thing except it's not the enemy we are tracking but our beloved visitors and customers. A heat map is a graph that shows where an average or a typical customer spends most of his time. colors the website into yellow, green and red patches which signify the density of visitor interest in those areas. It also shows where the visitor tried to click and succeeded or failed. The heat map is a pretty nasty looking thing, but the data it reveals is quite amazing. It shows in one glance what a bulk of your visitors are doing or trying to do. A heat map can combine data from hundreds or thousands or sometimes even hundreds of thousands of visitors into one simple, neat graph. Now, let's talk about the advantages of it. Well, to put it simply if you knew exactly where your potential customers were spending most of their time and what they spent most of their time doing and what obstacles they faced while doing that, it would be quite valuable to any business. After all, no one can predict human behavior to the dot. To err is human after all. To err in massively different and unpredictable ways is definitely human. Hence heat maps are a very important tool in the webmaster's tool kit. One that adds clarity and charts the way forward. Crazyegg just happens to be the easiest to use and the most awesome heat map tool out there. And guess what? they also have a free offer going on. check it out - https://www.crazyegg.com/visual-website-analytics

Talk about weight loss and introduce the idea of the minnesota expt.

Losing weight is a battle many of us have waged over the years. For some, it's a losing battle. No matter how much you fight, in the end, you lose as those little pounds of fat creep back up the weight scale in all the visible places. Atkin's diet, cauliflower soup diet, united nations diet and god knows what not things have been invented to try to cure this epidemic. But nothing seems to solve this problem permanently. It's time to focus on the fundamentals to solve this issue and while you may think that there are no fundamentals and is, after all, all voodoo magic, that is in fact not the case. The science on fat loss or weight loss is quite clear. The jury has been out on this one it seems for decades only that the marketing blitz has confounded the rest of us. Long ago during the second world war, an experiment called the Minnesota starvation experiment was done. It studied the effect of starvation on people. It was pretty brutal. Some subjects being studied faced psychological problems with food, some were found looking for food in trash cans and some tried chewing their thumbs off. Nevertheless was a tough experiment undertaken by the government to measure the effects of starvation of a large population as Europe was reeling from the effects of a devastating world war 2. After all the misery was done and over and the conclusions were finalized, the jury was quite clear. The only thing that caused weight loss or fat loss was in fact calorie restriction, or in short calorie deficit. And this fact has been talked about for ages within the health and fitness society and even in popular culture. In lay man's terms, it means to eat less than the energy we expend. Less in, more out. Sounds simple right? but that's where the nightmares begin! The problem is most people love food, in fact, "I live to eat" is a standard adage that most of the people today live by. In fact, calling oneself a foodie is almost a qualification. With the proliferation of Instagram and other social media websites promoting food, cakes, and other sweet meat recipes, eating has become almost an obsession. A cure for almost all of the life's challenging issues and problem. So how do we pursue weight loss in today's hungry world? Perhaps the answer lies in the magical world - calorie density!
